it’s good to be home
I am home at last. I napped in the guest bed because I couldn’t get comfortable in my own. Too soft I think. It hurts more to lie down than sit but I do need some sleep. I don’t know how well I will do tonight but it has to be better than being in the hospital.
My boy and my man are falling over themselves to help me. Josh brings me pillows where ever I sit so I can prop up my arms and my back. He likes to be needed and he’s great at fetching. Damon is in the doting phase. Don’t go up the stairs without telling me. Do you need something to eat/drink? Did you take your drugs. Where are you going to sleep? I’m not sure he likes to be needed so much, but he’s pretty good at it.
Everyday has to just get better from here, and I expect I won’t blog about it so much from here out. Even I’m a bit bored by my blog. ;) Of course the only other thing to talk about is omg how far behind I am in work now that I’ve lost an entire week! Let’s not acknowledge that yet though. Let’s stay in blissful ignorance of the looming paperwork.
Okay, changing subject, so at least one of you admitted to wanting to see some staples. Heh. I will set it up so those of you who don’t want to don’t have to! If you’re in a feed reader or you’ve already clicked over the to the actual post instead of the main page there’s nothing I can do to help you on this one - just stop scrolling right now! Click Read More below to continue reading and to see the photo. If you’re grossed out by that I’ll say good bye here. ;)
This was taken this morning with my sister’s computer so it’s grainy and blurry but at least we remembered to take it! I also cropped in a little cause you know, it’s of the slightly embarrassing variety photo . The RR tracks going off the page on the left there, do continue on and wrap around to the side a bit. Since the pic was taken my doc had every other staple taken out to help the healing process, but only because I am healing well and quickly on my own was she able to do that. Yay! The rest will be taken out later this week.
Okay, in all it’s glory is my wounded belly! (This one’s for you Moonspun!)
Anything that looks purple is bruising, and anything that looks red is healing. It’s not red in a bad infection sort of way. The surgeon was very happy with how this looked. Gag.
This pic also doesn’t show you the other two small incisions - one of them being IN my belly button. Ewwww. And also Ouch.
Now that I’ve sufficiently grossed everyone out I’ll say goodnight. xoxo

Hey! Ok, first things, first I am SO glad that you are home and healing fast. Second, thanks for the picture. I have to say, wow, it’s quite something. I’ll admit that were there no explanation provided and someone just put up a picture like that and said “Do word association!” I’d be at a loss. Especially on what body part that is….
You are one rockin’ woman to show us your stapled belly…thanks! I know when I had my bone spur surgery on my heel last December that I could NOT look at all at my foot or stitches, it totally freaked me out. BUT everyone else was totally fascinated by it. Maybe it’s easier when it’s not yours.
Anyway, rest easy and I look foward to any future updates from you….staple and bruise related or not!
:-)
Heh. Just for reference, the black thing at the top of the pic is the bottom of my bra!
Ouch! I hope you feel better real soon.
Oh. My. God. Where the hell is your gallbladder anyway? You are very brave!! Even my hyster wasn’t that bad…and it really really tickled when the staples came out. Imagine! Take it easy sweetie, if you do too much too soon it will only delay your recovery….which we hope is speedy.
So glad to hear that you’re home! Let the guys take care of you and rest as much as you can. Hope you’re feeling much better very, very soon!
I also wanted to say thanks for posting about your ordeal and for the visual. It’s been very helpful in preparing both me and the hubby for what we may be facing at the end of the month when I have mine done. I’m sorry you had to go through all of it, but really appreciate the fact that you were able to write about it. :)
Oy. That doesn’t look awesome. I’m glad you’re home and that you’re being taken care of. I hope you feel better soon.
Holy moley! Those are some staples! And, to think I whined about my c-section. . .
Hope you are mending well. Less than 3 weeks to BlogHer!
My husband’s name is Josh and he took such good care of my and our baby boy when I was in the hospital last summer and fall. I think it’s amazing how names can create people! What happened? I hope whatever it is, you make a fast recovery!
Yup. That’s an old fashioned gallbladder surgery incision. I’ve got one of those. As soon as that bad boy is all skin make sure you start slathering it with some good cocoa butter.
Glad to hear you’re home. Good luck taking it easy and letting things heal properly!
mmmm. I loves me some stapled incision pics. I wish I had taken one of my own!
(KIDDING!)
Girl, all I know is that you have approximately 17 days to heal because I am HUGGING YOU in Chicago.
Okay?
Take it REAL easy and enjoy the getting-waited-on part. And what makes this better than a C? You don’t have a squealy unpredictable infant to care for at the same time!

Well that DOES look worse than a c-section incision (not to mention the extra little ones from the failed lap attempt). Poor thing! Glad you’re home and able to finally get some rest. I hope your boys keep taking excellent care of you.
Okay… now I am jealous. Hmmmm what organ can I give up? I want some staples too!
Have you started to expell some of the 200 bags of IV fluids they pumped into you? That was the worst for me. Feeling all puffy and swollen.
yikes. did they try to do a laproscopy and change halfway through? yikes.
did you get to keep your stones? i asked for mine, and they wouldn’t give them to me.
