a little (blog) housekeeping
Cause you know I don’t do real housekeeping!*
What else am I doing besides getting upset about stupid laws? If you care to click some links…
I have a new guest post post up on GNM Parents today, on keeping your kids occupied while you work. It looks like I’m going to have a regular slot there every two weeks from now on, so why don’t you just go ahead and put GNM in your feed readers? So you don’t miss a single word of my very sage parenting advice! Heh. But just don’t believe a word of it.
One of my fabulous editor’s picks is on Blog Nosh today. Of course it’s fab, it’s written by Whoorl! It’s guaranteed to make you snort. Yeah, you’ll get the pun after you read the post!
I was invited to join Schmutzie’s Grace in Small Things Ning group, and I can’t say no to Schmutzie. I’ll be posting all of my 365 GiSTs over there if you want to read them. While you’re over there checking it out, you should join too. It’s an open invitation! I have to say, it is enlightening to have to come up with at least 5 good things about each day, no matter how small.
Phew, I’m tired! And now you know why. ;)
*If I wasn’t so embarrassed tired, I’d post a picture of my very full and dirty kitchen sink!
noshing and pimping!
I’m a little embarrassed to admit this…
I have a post debuting on Blog Nosh today! No, I don’t mean I edited a post on Blog Nosh - I actually put one of my own on there! I don’t know why I have such a hard time pimping my own blog but there it is - the mortification that I won’t be able to shake all day.
I did it because I’ve edited so many posts there* and I thought it was time the Blog Nosh readers got to know a little bit about me! So go see which post I chose from my archives that I think is my true self! Heh. It’s okay to laugh. Really. I do every time I re-read it.
If you’re clicking around anyway - go click on over to the 2008 Weblog Awards and vote for Blog Nosh for Best New Blog! Pretty please with sugar on top? You can vote once every 24 hours so vote early, and vote often! Blog Nosh’s Editor in Chief Velveteen Mind is a finalist for Best Diarist too!
* send me your best archived posts and I might feature you too! and then you can have one of these:

These buttons, baby, are all the rage. :)
on a roll with the bullets
I might as well just keep this bullet theme going today too, but let’s be random shall we?
- I just wasted half my morning on Facebook joining a bunch of blog networks. Do you have a blog network too? Are we even friends yet?? I’m embarrassed to admit I don’t have very many Facebook friends. I haven’t exactly tried very hard, and I mostly friend other bloggers. So are you gonna friend me or what? ;)
- It freaks me out a little to have a lot of people from my real life and my past checking out my blog! I guess I need to get over that cause people are starting to find it, especially through Facebook. No it’s not a secret, but I haven’t shouted it from the rooftops either.
- I made a really awesome meal last night. Ribs. OMG. They were so good! Unfortunately, DH didn’t like them. ~Sigh~ Anyway, if you like sweet style ribs, dump a half a bottle of Sweet Baby Rays BBQ sauce and a cup of orange juice on them, bake at 300 for 2 hours and you’ll fantastic, (so says I!) juicy, easy ribs. You’re welcome!
- Speaking of cooking. My kitchen is now a disaster from actually making a real meal. Where are the cleaning fairies when you need them??
- Oh, crap. I just remembered. I’m supposed to make something for a charity bake sale tomorrow morning. I have stuff for cookies, but that’s so boring. Oy. And I have to clean the kitchen before I can bake. Double crap.
- We also have company coming for lunch on Sunday - that’s a good thing - but it also means - well you know - the cleaning thing. Blech.
- I’ve discovered something about standing at the bus stop on freezing cold mornings, (like every day lately) it’s awful to do it when your hair is wet. I’ve always been a “shower in the am” person, but it looks like I’m gonna have to switch to the evenings or I’m going to die of pneumonia!
- The boy is feeling much better, and we all slept through the night last night. Yay!
- Did you notice the segues are only in my head? You just have to figure out the transitions for yourselves. heh. good luck.
- I’m always looking for great blog posts to feature on Blog Nosh Magazine. Any subject will do if the writing is really good! I can always pass it to another editor if it fits better in a different category than what I work on. (House and Home, Entertainment, and Fiction and Poetry are mine, but there are sooo many categories!) Don’t be shy! Email me - catnip35 at gmail dot com with links to your favorite archived posts.
Okay, I’ve now wasted even more time. Gotta get something accomplished. See ya tomorrow. :)
it must be time for bullets
It’s one of those bullet kind of days, don’t you think?!
- There is an official relaunch over at Blog Nosh Magazine. It’s been completely redesigned and it is absolutely gorgeous! If you’ve checked it out before but haven’t been there lately you should go see how tasty it is now! If you’ve never been there at all, well, what the heck are you waiting for??
- Chapter 15 is up at ChapterBytes written by Desiree from Mother’s Musings. She did such a great moving the story along, thanks Desiree!
- I cleaned my house. You must know by now that such an event is worthy of a bullet. Maybe two since it’s like, really really clean.
- I think I might have to make the boy take naps after school. And I might have to rename him Crankyboy. All this new information is being crammed in his little brain and he’s exhausted. Are you experiencing this with your kids too?
- I’m considering a site redesign. I’m kind of tired of the green.
- It’s also because I’m considering putting up an ad and I need a third column. PLEASE don’t hate me for it and unsubscribe.
- I need to get some business cards made up before the BlogHer Boston Reach Out on Oct. 11. Any recommendations? They need to be very inexpensive and I’ll be designing them myself. When I say that of course I mean DH will be designing them. ;)
- Lastly, can I just say this whole new schedule is killing me? I used to be able to get up at 7:30 and still get him to preschool on time. Now? I have to be up and showered before 7. Ugh. I. Am. So. Tired.

another bullet post
I have a million things in my head and the only way to deal with it is to spew it all out in stream of consciousness bullets! Ready? Okay!
- Google Analytics and Feedburner are killing me. It’s me, not them. Apparently, I’m too dumb to use them.
- If the new feed looks wonky still, I apologize! It’ll work itself out. I hope.
- We’ve officially had two days of summer vacation, and it’s already killing me. He never. stops. talking.
- and following me around.
- and asking for snacks.
- It’s DH’s and my Thirteenth Anniversary today and we both forgot. Again. At least I remembered before the day was over this time! We’ll celebrate one night next week when the boy is at the MIL’s for 5 days.
- The boy is going to the MIL’s for 5 days next week!!! Woohoo!
- Blog Nosh Magazine is launching tomorrow!!
- I had to stop halfway through this post and get the boy another snack. Holy moly.
- I’m continuing to look for the best “Homemaking” posts out there. Do you have any great old posts on cooking, gardening, organizing, green/simple living, or home interior/exterior design? Email me links to the post, catnip35 at gmail dot com!
- My darling friend Beaglemum is coming to visit me this weekend, with the baby! Yay!
- That means more cleaning. Booo. Heh.
- We’ve had rain here almost everyday for weeks. That means we haven’t been able to mow the lawn. It’s a jungle out there. As in, the grass is now reseeding itself. Anyone own a thresher we can borrow? Or a goat?
- That also means the tomato plants are also doing really well!
- I’m trying to grow my bangs out and they’re in that awkward stage. I know you know the what I mean. I’m fighting the urge to trim them. Help me.
- My tivo taped the original Parent Trap last weekend. My tivo knows me really well. Guess what I’m doing while I write this post? :)
