you gotta love Miis

I want to say thank you to all my readers and friends who’ve been very supportive of my efforts to lose weight. You all are the best!

Would you please show a little more love by clicking over to see the Wii Fit Mii posts from these brave ladies?! (and give them some comment love!)

Mary Beth

Leighann

Helen

and of course, my own

I love the common theme of self-deprecation – I knew I liked you all for a reason!! xoxo

If anyone else does this and wants to be added to the list either leave a comment or email me, catnip35 at gmail dot com.

weight loss round up

Although I prefer to round down when I weigh myself!

I know there are some of you that hate the weight loss posts, but there are others who love them and have privately told me they are motivated them to get healthy too after reading them. So motivating wins! If you don’t want to read about losing weight, you can re-read a random older post instead. :) xo

So to catch you up to date, I have now lost (since Jan. 1) dun dun dun: 15 pounds! (3 just this week – I hit a wall last week but now I’m catching up!)

Can I get a woohoo?!! WOOO-freaking-HOOOO!!

I’m still loving the Wii Fit – especially the 6 minute hula-hoop and the rhythm boxing. Those are the ones that get my heart rate up the most and give me jello legs – always a good sign!

In the evenings while I watch tv I bounce around on my mini-trampoline – it’s fun and it doesn’t feel like I’m exercising – until I step off! Bonus – it’s quiet so I don’t wake up the boy.

I’m still counting calories and writing everything down. I’m sticking to ~1200 a day, and one day a week or so I let myself go to ~1500. I’m averaging about 2 lbs a week so it seems to be working.

It seems like everyone in blog land is exercising lately, especially the shredheads. (They’re doing the Jillian Michaels 30 Day Shred.) If you haven’t heard of them and you’re looking for motivation I highly recommend checking it out. I’m not going to be a shredhead myself – I don’t have the video and don’t plan on buying it but I am loving reading everyone’s posts. It makes me feel like I’m not so alone in all of this.

A couple of other blogs/sites I love are Loser Moms, Two Thirty Two, (please post again soon Y!) and Bodies in Motivation, I can especially relate to AndreAnna’s posts there. I love that they are real and honest about their struggles. You should check out Mommy Runner who is a good friend of mine and who has re-focused her blog to be more running oriented. Also, A Mommy Story is planning a Hot by BlogHer site for those of us motivated to look good by the July conference! That would be me!!

Do you have any weight loss/fitness blogs you like? Give me links please!

One last thing. On Saturday I’ll be posting a photo of my chubby little Wii Fit Mii. ~ahem~ Who’s with me??? If you want I’ll do a linky love post of anyone else who does it too.

a little (blog) housekeeping

Cause you know I don’t do real housekeeping!*

What else am I doing besides getting upset about stupid laws? If you care to click some links…

I have a new guest post post up on GNM Parents today, on keeping your kids occupied while you work. It looks like I’m going to have a regular slot there every two weeks from now on, so why don’t you just go ahead and put GNM in your feed readers? So you don’t miss a single word of my very sage parenting advice! Heh. But just don’t believe a word of it.

One of my fabulous editor’s picks is on Blog Nosh today. Of course it’s fab, it’s written by Whoorl! It’s guaranteed to make you snort. Yeah, you’ll get the pun after you read the post!

I was invited to join Schmutzie’s Grace in Small Things Ning group, and I can’t say no to Schmutzie. I’ll be posting all of my 365 GiSTs over there if you want to read them. While you’re over there checking it out, you should join too. It’s an open invitation! I have to say, it is enlightening to have to come up with at least 5 good things about each day, no matter how small.

Phew, I’m tired! And now you know why. ;)

*If I wasn’t so embarrassed tired, I’d post a picture of my very full and dirty kitchen sink!

food link love

Well I know some of you liked my cat link love post, and that makes me think a few others might like all the food sites that I’m addicted to! Some are well known, some not, but I drool over them all. No wonder my keyboard is a mess!

Of course if you just want to just browse random food blogs, which I like to do sometimes, there’s a couple of great places to do that: FoodBuzz and Alltop. There’s million and one food blogs out there, what’s your favorite? I’m always looking for new ones. :)

kitty linky love

Well, we’re on sick day #2. He coughed all night long so I let him sleep in, and now he’s upstairs tucked into my bed watching Sprout. It’s the longest I’ve ever seen him be still.

This post is just for my cat lover friends. You know my cat is like my other kid, and my kid loves cats as much as I do. We love to get online together and look at all the cute cat sites out there. Some of them you probably already know, I mean, who doesn’t know Lolcats?? But there are lots of other cute cat blogs that I love and I wanted to share with you.

Okay, now you know my secret blog lurking habit – it’s all about the cats. Got any other good ones for me?

how fragile we are, part 2

Some of you may remember when I wrote this post. I was in agony, not for myself but for my friends but I didn’t feel it was my place to tell their story.

I think it’s time to share a little bit of what was behind that with you, by sharing their blog. A blog they started after their 9 year old daughter Grace died in an accident in June. A blog to help them share their heartbreak and their healing. A blog to help them start a Foundation in her name to help orphans around the world.

The blog is mostly Bill’s, and I suggest you start at the beginning, but then read Teresa’s guest post, and after that you should read all the posts about their recent trip to Romania, where they originally adopted Grace and her sisters almost 6 years ago.

Can I just say that Teresa and I have been friends for 30 years? 30 years. She was my very first friend and one of the most beautiful souls I’ve ever met and I love her like my own sister.

After you read their blog, go hug and kiss someone you care about, and tell them you love them.

stumbling around

I am, at the moment, mired in penguin pictures, still. But every now and then I take a mini-break and go read some of your wonderful posts out there. The problem is, my brain is so fried and my time is so limited I haven’t been commenting as much as I like to. You all know what a commenting fool I usually am! Please don’t think that I haven’t been reading.

Along those same lines, I’ve always tried to respond to individual comments here. Yeah, I kinda suck at that lately. I love you guys for commenting, and frankly, comments pretty much make my day. I am constantly amazed that you keep coming back here and reading my drivel! The number of comments compared to my total readership here is pretty shocking. Look at my Feedburner chicklet on the bottom left, I only have like 30-40 regular readers, and you all comment pretty much at least once a week. I can’t thank you enough for that.

So here’s the thing I’ve been thinking about. I’m trying to be a better sharer. Commenting on your blogs is fun, and I’m sure you appreciate it, but, if I only have 10 seconds, would you rather I say “great post!” for only you to see or would you rather I Stumble it so others will know about it? Stumble eh, I thought so. So I am going to make myself a new policy, that I am going to become a Stumbling fool as much as I am a commenting fool!

If you are on Stumble, please come find me so we can share great posts with each other! I want to see what you Stumble too!

Some of you may be asking, what the heck is Stumble? It’s one of those social media places where you can share your favorite reads with your friends. Check it out, sign up, (friend me!) and start giving a thumbs up to your favorite sites and posts! Btw, it helps to download the Stumble toolbar for your browser, it just makes it that much easier to say “I like it!”

In the same vein, if you prefer using one the other link sharing sites, you can probably find me there too. Although I’m concentrating my efforts on Stumble I do have profiles on these as well: del.icio.us, Digg, Kirtsy, and Technorati.

I love you, my bloggy friends, mwah!

edited to add: BTW, one key to being a good stumbler is to NOT mark your friends as Adult Content by mistakenly hitting the wrong button. Damn. Um, hey Neil, I’m trying to fix that porn label on your post. Sorry!!!
